This week was great here in Botetourt full of miracles. This week we met a wonderful man named Bill, Elder Price and I were knocking on doors in a neighborhood that we had prayerfully picked out and the first door we knock on, Bill answered and let us right on in. He is about 60 years old and very interested in religion. We were only there for about 20 minutes but we left him a Book of Mormon and rescheduled appointment. We came back two days later with Bro. Jones who just recently had been baptized in April who also is about 60 years old and we taught Bill and his wife about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We talked about how important prophets were in the Old Testament and how prophets continued in the new testament even after Christ death and how prophets are important in our day. We explained how the Book of Mormon was a record of the ancient inhabitants of the America's and their dealings with Christ. He was pretty interested and wanted to learn more, he will be coming to church next week.
The other great miracle that occurred happened when we were teaching a man named Tony. He has been learning about the restored gospel with us for a while, we taught him "The Plan of Salvation" which is Gods plan for his children. We were teaching Tony how we lived with God before we came here to earth and that this earth was made for us to have a body and grow and become better sons and daughters of God. We also taught him how Jesus Christ atoned for our sins so that we could return and live with God again after we die. After we told him this Tony started to cry. He never heard that we existed before we came here on earth, and he finally understood Christ's role in his life. This spirit filled the room. He asked to be baptized.
This Sunday a member of the ward and I did a duet on violin and tin whistle. We played the song Come, come, ye saints. It was wonderful to hear and the congregation sang the last few verses.
Another cool experience was that I went on "exchanges" in downton Roanoke. Exchanges are when elders switch companions for a day. I spent time with Elder Stechnij and we walked and talked around the downtown area it's a wonderful place with great music and food.
Sincerely,
Elder Kochenderfer
