July has come up quickly as we work here in Botetourt County. The local community is getting read for the 4 of July approaches. This week has been one of the more productive ones in the past month. We have been busy seeing former investigators and introducing Elder Price to them. It gives us an excuse to see them. We have been meeting people in the area but the biggest miracle this week has been a newspaper interview that we had with the local paper called "The Roanoke Times". It is a great story how it happened but it is long to tell so I will sum it up. Last transfer we had been knocking on doors and had prayed where to go. Eventually we came to a door that belonged to an older lady who was a retired journalist. In fact she was the journalist for the "Religion" column in the Roanoke Times. She was intrigued with us and let us in. We exlpained what we do as missionaries and she was amazed. She got our number and said she was going to write an article for the Roanoke Times and submit it. This Friday was the interview. We met at the church. She was there as well as 8 other missionaries. Including myself and there was a church public relations representative there as well. The interview was amazing and the spirit was felt. It will be published this upcoming Friday I believe and will have great things to say about us as missionaries. That was a great miracle this week.
The week ended for us on Sunday. Other missionaries in this Ward had a baptism. The baptism was for a mother who was not a member but had her son out on a mission. It really touched me how this missionary must feel for his mother to join the church. It means so much when a loved family member joins the church because you love them. As missionaries you love your investigator and you have a love for your family. Imagine the joy and love when a family member joins in the Restored Gospel. I am so happy for that young man.
This week was great in miracles and we keep on planting seeds with everyone we meet. We work from 6:30- 9pm every day the Restored Gospel is spreading through Botetourt County and throughout the world.
God Bless, the church is true and living. It's great to be a Mormon.
Sincerely,
Elder Eric Kochenderfer
