Week 2 here in Brazil and i have about 20 min to describe what life is like. Right now it is spring and the weather is hot, im not looking forward to their summer down here, i hear that its killer. An interesting thing to note is that no one here has carpet in their house, they all have tile floors because that is whats coolest. there are not really air conditioners, when people are hot they just go into their homes where there is shade. Rice and beans is a standard at every meal, everyones homes are surrounded by walls that are 6 feet high, they have a gate for their family and cars to go through, everyone kind of has their own personal castle here. We walk everywhere, no car like in the staes.
Here is the address of the mission office where you can send letters if you would like,
Elder Kochenderfer/Vincent

Brasil
They say that it takes about a month to send and recieve letters from here to the states.
Here the past week the main goal once again has been to learn the language, each day i understand more and more as i hear the people speak, every time i dont know a word i write it down in my planner and while we are walking down the street i open it up and memorize words from that day and days before. Learning a language is slow, often i am impatient of myself but what do the scriptures say? ....by small and simple things are great things brought to pass... i remember a quote i heard in church a few months ago, ....conistancy trumps intensity..... i will say that this is one of my greatest struggles on my mission but i look forward to it as one of my greatest victories in the future. ya gotta look forward in life with an optomistic view
Right now my goal is to go around on the ward list and practice giving lessons about the church and Jesus Christ to the members, they in turn love practicing their english with me. its a good trade.
As all i hope all is well and thank you for the responses to the emails, they truly brighten my week.
Sincerely,
Elder Kochenderfer
p.s... i apologize for gramatical errors and spelling errors, the keyboards in brasil are set up differently than in the U.S. love ya!
