Another week of miracles has been wrought among the Elders of Botetourt. The best part of the week was when Shelby came to church. Shelby is an older woman in her 70's and we have been visiting her for a while. She was an investigator when I first arrived here in the area. Her progression has been rather long but it has been positive. Last week we had dinner with her and her husband who is a good friend of ours, we asked him to give the blessing on the food and he did. We then ate and gave a spiritual lesson and left. When we came back the next week, her husband was wasn't in the same room but she said to us that last week was the first time she had ever heard her husband say a prayer in the 40 years that she had been married. We recently invited her to come to church with us this upcoming week and she accepted. She came yesterday and the spirit was felt. She plans to come next week.
Other miracles: We have met many people in the area who, even though they aren't interested in joining the church, love us. We spread the message of Jesus Christ and invite and help people to come to him. That's all we do nothing more. We just meet a lot of people who like to talk, and we like listening, there are rather a lot of older people in our area because this has been their home for so long. Majority of the younger people live in the city or have moved away. Often people just want to talk to someone who cares about them, we do care and listen. We may be silent as we listen but we become friends with them. One quote I've learned on my mission that rings true across the world is this " No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care"
God bless you and I hope that you are having a great week. It's great to be a Mormon and its great to be a Christian.
Sincerely,
Elder Kochenderfer
