Life is getting better and I'm getting used to being a missionary. The area we are in is growing. Elder Peine(my companion) and I are getting used to the way things work here and are learning to adapt more. We are going through old records and finding people who were "interested" when missionaries knocked on their door before. We find the ones who haven't been followed up on. There are a lot of them. We are gradually building our teaching pool. We are starting to teach more. We are at the process right now of finding people to teach, we will eventually get to a point that we or the missionaries who are here at the time, will have little time tracting because of the people we find. I'm optimistic.
Life as a missionary is very routine but it is a routine I like. Here's a "regular" day. Every day is really different.
6:30am- Get up, and exercise. I'm really lucky, there are members here who loaned us some baseball gloves. We get up and play catch outside. I'm lucky to have a companion who knows how to catch a ball. I only practice my knuckle-ball.
7:00 We shower and eat breakfast. I'm a fan of Cheerios myself but Elder Peine chooses to consume Corn Pops. Somehow we get along. jk ;)
8:00 study time begins with personal study. I'm studying the New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Preach my Gospel
9:00 Elder Peine and I study together and share what we learned. We both like reading " Our Search For Happiness"
10:00 New Missionary training. For the first three months of being a new missionary I'm required to take an hour and study certain chapters of Preach My Gospel.
11:00 LANGUAGE STUDY!!!- My favorite study time. It's cool to learn new words but its even cooler to use them. We end each language study with 15 minutes of reading the Book of Mormon in Portuguese. Elder Peine is waiting for his VISA for Brazil as well. We both look forward to that time of the day.
12:00pm Lunch
1:00-4:00 Start finding people and knocking on doors. We have an appointment on during that time. We are getting better at tracting, I do it because we need to but I'm getting more comfortable with it. If someone doesn't want to hear from us, thats ok! Next house!
5:00 Dinner- We don't have many members in our area because we are in the country. Sometimes we cook and sometimes we eat at members houses. Its usually 50/50. My companion and I made spaghetti and Alfredo sauce ( with beef).
6:00-9:00 Visit less-actives and return home at 9. we finish the night by planning and are in bed at 10:30.
That's what happens every day. Today was an interesting p-day. I cut my own hair which ended up....interesting. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Today we are going withother missionaries and playing frisbee golf. Afterward is Walmart, Walmart is serriously like Somerset Mall when you're on your mission.
Hope all is well back home. I always enjoy letters and pictures in emails! God bless you and remember its pretty awesome to be a Mormon.
Sincerely,
Elder Kochenderfer
