Another week has passed here in Botetourt County VA. We work hard but always have enough time to play. Transfers are coming up and I'm expecting to stay here because this transfer we will be getting a new mission president. It's very big news. We will miss President Pitt. He is a great leader and very caring.
This week included some service. We went over to the Jones house and helped them out cleaning the basement. One of our investigators named Connie lost her husband a few years ago, it has been tough getting in touch with her but recently we stopped by and she was home! We gave her a copy of an Ensign magazine about temples! (she loves architecture) hopefully she will read and ponder about it, we think she will.
We also had a missionary "wife swap" of sorts. They are called "exchanges". We switch companions. I spent time down in downtown Roanoke. It was great. I hung out with a great Elder named Elder Morgan. We taught a newlywed couple that really admire the church and are checking it out. They are named Nick and Katie. It was really fun teaching them because one of them had a intriguing interest in Norse-mythical gods and it was very fun to share beliefs and common ground.
We are good friends of the local Presbyterian minister in the area. He has a great church. He was wondering if Latter-Day Saint's were Christian, so we gave him "Jesus The Christ" to read. We hope he reads and ponders the words.
Last of all is that this week was a great big barbecue for the members of the congregation here in Botetourt. It was to invite all people in the area to get to know members of the church and also to invite people learning about the church. Although there are few in number here in Botetourt the barbecue was well attended. We had an investigator couple come along with us. They are named Shelby and Lynn Snider. They love church and admire their members.
We met a man named Gary, he is looking for the gospel so badly. His wife died 14 years ago and he still wonders about her. Please pray for him by name next time your on your knees. He is a great man, in his 60's. Great potential.
This week has gone by fast. Hope it is going well and that you are safe and healthy. Please send pictures! it's no lie that a picture is worth a thousand words.
Sincerely,
Elder Eric Kochenderfer
