This week has really flown by and transfers are coming up again in 2 weeks. This week was full of miracles. To start off we met 3 families that are receptive to the gospel.
The Clemons family met us when we had stopped by their house. Earlier that week we had met their son Matt and he liked our ties. We agreed to stop by his house and give him one later that week. When we stopped by his father invited us in we met his wife, Matt and another son Grant. We introduced ourselves and were invited in for dinner. We talked about families and how our families have blessed our lives. Everyone at the table shared their stories of gratitude and the spirit was felt. We left and they invited us to come back again.
We also met a family at the local Goodwill Store named the Smiths. We were walking out the door and the husband called out to us. His wife was a member and he had met the missionaries before. We met the rest of the family and we scheduled an appointment to meet with them the next day. The next day we went over with a member and talked and shared the message of the Restoration. The spirit was felt again and they will be coming to church this Sunday.
This week we had also met a a member of the church in our congregation. His name is Brother Rosser. He's black, in his mid 70's, and his conversion story is amazing. Three or four years ago missionaries knocked on his door, he invited them in and they told him about the gospel and about the Restoration. He starated meeting with the missionaries consistently and learning more about the gospel. Prior to meeting with the missionaries he was an alcoholic, addicted to cigarettes, tobacco, was cheating on his wife and had spent almost his life savings on hard drugs. His life was a mess. He wanted to stop but couldn't find the strength to do it. As the missionaries taught him about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, he stopped cheating on his wife. As they taught him the word of wisdom he quit cigarettes, alcohol, hard drugs, everything. He told us that as he prayed and read from the scriptures he felt the strength come from God. He still reads the scriptures and comes to church every week. He's an inspiration to me.
One thing I learned so far on my mission is that when you put God first in your life, everything else falls in place . I know it. I hope everyone is having a great week.
It's great to be a Mormon missionary.
Sincerely,
Elder Eric Kochenderfer
